How Is My Progress Measured In 121 Business Coaching?

If you’re exploring whether or not a coach is going to be right for you and for your business to take it to the next level, you might be wondering how is my progress measured with a one-to-one coach? In this video I’m going to explain exactly how we keep you on track, keep you accountable and that you know what progress you’re making as a result of the coaching that you receive.

There are a couple of ways that we measure the progress that all of our clients are making. First of all is through business metrics, business measurements and numbers. And second of all is specifically related to the quarterly goals you set yourself every three months. So, here’s how we do that.

First of all, looking at your business metrics, a question I do often get asked here is, well, what numbers should I be measuring in my business? And it always brings me back to this phrase that what gets measured gets managed. And on the flip side, therefore, what does not get measured, does not get managed.

So, what that means is that there’s no right or wrong in terms of what you could be or should be measuring in your business. It’s just go back to what are the things that I want to improve. What are the things that I want to manage and how can I set up some measurements and metrics against those specific outcomes. For example, you might be thinking, oh, I need more money in my business, or I need to get more clients.

So, you could just be measuring, well, how many leads are we getting per month and how many of those leads are we converting into clients. But those measurements are just the results. They’re just the end game as a result of your marketing and sales activity. So, there are some other things kind of prior to that you could also be measuring what I call the activity goals.

So not just how many leads have we got and how many did we convert, but how many marketing strategies are we doing on a monthly basis, we advise at least three by the way. You could also be measuring how many social media posts are we putting out per week, how many networking events am I attending every single week? How many newsletters are we sending out every month or every quarter.

So, when we’re tracking your progress in one-to-one coaching, it’s important to have the goals, the end goals, how many clients in this example, but also to be measuring your activity levels towards those goals, the actual actions or habits that you or your team are taking towards those goals.

And the second key way we measure your progress through one-to-one coaching is your quarterly goals. Now every single one of our clients has quarterly goals, three-month goals that they’re working towards because three months is long enough to start something new, and so that starts something exciting, but it’s short enough that it comes around very quickly.

So, every quarter we get all of our clients, 80, 90 people are invited to come face to face, to work on your quarterly goals to see what’s worked well from the last quarter. To learn from anything that didn’t go so well from the last quarter and then to set new goals for the next three months. And really working on those goals, making sure that you’ve got quarterly goals that aren’t just what do I want to achieve over the next three months.

But you know that those quarterly goals are linked to your 12-month goals and your long-term goals of for you personally and for your business. So, with those quarterly goals, we are then holding you accountable in every coaching session, not just beating you with a stick.

We’re seeing what’s gone well, we’re helping you through any challenges, anything that you’re stuck on, anything that you’re procrastinating on, that’s what we’re there to do.
So, we’re the one-to-one coach. Your progress is being measured through business metrics, whatever they might be for the for the things that you want to improve and through your professional and personal quarterly goals every single session.
