Can Coaching Help Me With Balancing Business & Personal Life?
In this video, I discuss the impact of running a business on personal life and how our coaching can help you achieve a better work-life balance. The personal cost of running a business, sacrificing family time, health, relationships is avoidable. We firmly believe that running a business should be about more life, more time fulfilment, wealth, not less. Yet various studies reported that UK business owners work 50 to 65 hours a week.
That’s an average so many are working even more than that. And yet the stats over many decades consistently show that all those hours and sacrifice made no difference. Failure was still the result for the vast majority of UK business owners, and I’ve always found those stats tragic and unacceptable.
But here’s the reason for optimism. Our clients prove that this personal cost is absolutely avoidable. For example, I coached Gary, the owner of a wholesale cleaning product supplier who was regularly starting work at 4-5am.
His team of 30 were really busy too, but after four years of coaching, all that stopped, and Gary semi-retired to Spain for 6 months of the year while his business continued without him. Another example is Shaz, who runs a digital marketing agency for dentists.
We coached him on how to empower his team and managers to take over the day-to-day running of his agency. He then went on to start his charity Wells on Wheels, helping rural families in India to more easily access clean water supplies. All of this whilst his agency continued without him and actually now are ranked number one in their industry.
Our results have been so impactful that in 2022 I was appointed by the Royal Institute of British Architects as Creative Director for their annual conference to help educate an entire profession on how they can reduce the personal impacts of running a business.
I will add one caveat though. Saying you want change is far easier than actually making the necessary changes. So yes, our results prove that our coaching will bring you greater balance in your life, but only when you are prepared to embrace the often uncomfortable changes in mentality and skills that we will coach you to make.
